Venue - HasGeek Date - 17th January 2015 Apoorva Giri and Shruthi Kamath, two Information security enthusiasts conducted a workshop on Web Application Security and Network Security at the HasGeek house recently. It was a woman only event held as an initiative to introduce more women to the InfoSec arena. This event was held in association with HasGeek , at the HasGeek house, Bengaluru. The workshop covered basics of Web App Security and Network Security. The participants worked along with the instructors in the hands-on session alongside Apoorva and Shruthi. Normally the webinars and the talks that I had attended earlier dived right into hacking, ransack a web app and put the network team to shame in public by showcasing the vulnerabilities. I’m now attempting to do just that—confidently sharing the key factors that have helped shape my own career, along with a practical tip. Most of us enter the workforce unaware of what truly contributes to building a fulfilling career or how to actively develop it. So, where did I look for guidance when it came to career growth? A senior professional in the training department immediately caught my attention as a newcomer to the corporate world. This individual displayed a level of confidence in their work that stood out—not because of a fancy job title or strategic friendliness with their manager, nor by doing their manager’s job in addition to their own over extended hours. Introduction In a new turn of events, this is not Anupama Shenoy ’s Facebook account as conveyed by her. In yet another turn of events, the account is/was hacked as per the media who neither confirms / denies it. Probably plants it!? for the rest of the audience to have something to be intrigued about so there is still ongoing interest in this case!? This case seemed interesting to me, and I started following it up. Because here is a person who stands up and revolts against injustice. Mining and sand mafia is on the rise in Karnataka, several lorries carrying loads and loads of sand hits Bangalore everyday. If you are around Hebbal, you can see them parked in the hours that they are not allowed to enter the city. Why is this case interesting to me?
